Ernie Anderson, who did the opening news announcements at that time, instead does the closed captioning announcement here (that was normally done by Frank Avruch). In this NC5 opening sequence, renowned actor James Earl Jones does the voiceover. Mr. Jones' unmistakeable booming voice fits in well with WCVB's pompous news theme of 1990-93. A complete cut of the theme runs into the newscast, even as Brian Leary (who, in this concept, was filling in for Nat & Chet) begins speaking. |

 | George e Mildred George e Mildred è una serie televisiva di produzione britannica del 1976, fortunato spin-off di un'altra popolare sit-com: Un uomo in casa.Tuttora il telefilm è uno dei più celebrati e amati, non solo nel Regno Unito.Nel 1977 va in scena un adattamento teatrale della serie; da questa nasce anche una versione americana, I Roper (a sua volta spin-off di Tre cuori in affitto, versione in salsa USA di Un uomo in casa).Nel 1979, dopo 38 puntate e 5 stagioni il telefilm si interrompe per la morte della protagonista Yootha Joyce, a causa di una grave forma di epatite, contratta a causa dell'abuso di alcol.Nel 1980 venne trasmesso il film per la tv "George e Mildred" (George e Mildred), in Italia fu trasmesso il 1 gennaio 1983.In Italia la Rai acquistò i diritti e trasmise gli episodi alla fine degli anni settanta, per riproporli anche negli anni ottanta. Dopo alcune repliche mandate in onda in orario notturno da Canale 5, recentemente soltanto il canale satellitare Jimmy e la rete TSI mandano in onda le avventure della coppia britannica.Da segnalare l'efficacissimo doppiaggio italiano di George e Mildred, a opera di Gianfranco Bellini e Anna Miserocchi. George and Mildred was a British sitcom produced by Thames Television that aired from 1976 to 1980. It was a spin-off of Man About the House and starred Brian Murphy and Yootha Joyce as an ill-matched married couple, George and Mildred Roper. It was written by Brian Cooke and Johnnie Mortimer. Like many sitcoms of the day, George and Mildred was also turned into a film which was dedicated to actress Yootha Joyce who suddenly died in 1980 just as the cast had looked so forward to recording a sixth series at the time. |

Le poesie erano in realta' inizialmente lettere che il poeta scriveva ai suoi nipotini e che vennero poi successivamente pubblicate. Lloyd Webber ha musicato tutte le poesie della raccolta per costruire la storia del musical, oltre a materiale inedito fornitogli dalla vedova di Eliot. Memory, la canzone più famosa del musical, è stata scritta da Trevor Nunn ispiratosi alla poesia di Eliot Rapsodia su una notte di vento. Cats è andato in scena in prima mondiale al New London Theater nel West End di Londra il 21 maggio 1981. La regia era di Trevor Nunn e coreografie di Gillian Lynne. Gli interpreti principali erano Wayne Sleep (Quaxo), Paul Nicholas (Rum Tum Tugger), Brian Blessed (Old Deuteronomy e Bustopher Jones) e Elaine Paige (Grizabella). Nel cast compariva anche Sarah Brightman nel ruolo di Jemima. Lo spettacolo finale fu trasmesso su uno schermo gigante a Covent Garden. A Broadway il musical debuttò al Winter Garden Theatre il 7 ottobre 1982 e chiuse il 10 settembre 2000. La parte di Grizabella fu interpretata da Betty Buckley, quella di Old Deuteronomy da Ken Page. Nel 1998 fu realizzata una versione video del musical dove Elaine Paige riprendeva la parte di Grizabella e Ken Page quella di Old Deuteronomy. Sir John Mills impersonava Gus. Chapman's death occurred one day before the 20th anniversary of the first broadcast of Flying Circus; Terry Jones called it "the worst case of party-pooping in all history".
