BRIARCLIFF HIGH SCHOOL

'Briarcliff High School' is a school in Briarcliff Manor, New York, USA. It serves grades 9 through 12. It is co-located with Briarcliff Middle School. In 2006, it was placed 95th on Newsweek Magazine's Top 1200 High Schools list and 2007 it was placed 224th.

In 1998 the Varsity Baseball team were the class-D state champions. Since than the student population has increased making it move up to class-C. Today BHS participates in class-B sporting events. The baseball and swimming programs have consistently been BHS's strongest athletic program. However in 2002 the Varsity football team was the class-B favorites lead by players as Higle, Blevins, Lamar. They lost the state championship to Oneondaga at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse. The Cross-Country and Track teams were stalwart sectional 1 winners between 1985-1987. The feel good story which has recently come out of Briarcliff Sports was the rise of its Varsity Lacrosse team in 2004. The team went to sectional after only one year lead by Coach Al Meola, goal scorer AJ Lyons who holds the goal scoring record in a season at 49, goalie Matt Meyers who has the record for 256 saves in a season and John Cipollina who brought his school record 22 assist in the season as well as his great leadership.

Briarcliff athletes are usually known for their high performance in an arduous academic curriculum and have won many scholar athlete awards throughout the years. Briarcliff is known for playing sports.
Fall Sports: Cross-Country, Field Hockey, Girls Tennis, Soccer, Volleyball, Swimming, and Football


Winter Sports: Indoor Track, Basketball, Bowling, and Ice Hockey (team is combined with Irvington)


Spring Sports: Track & Field, Baseball, Softball, Golf, Lacrosse, and Boys Tennis.


Defunct Teams: Skiing, Wrestling, Co-ed Volleyball.

Student Body


The student body consists of incoming graduates from Briarcliff Middle School, in addition to students from Pocantico Hills and Elmsford who have chosen to attend Briarcliff High School.

Post- BHS


Many BHS graduates matriculate at top-ranked universities and liberal arts colleges including Princeton University, Williams College, Harvard University, Yale University, Columbia University, and Dartmouth College. Cornell University is particularly popular, and usually 5 to 10 graduating seniors enroll there each year. Binghamton University is also an extremely popular college choice as well with roughly 15-20 students being accepted there annually. Other popular college choices include Lehigh University, SUNY New Paltz, SUNY Purchase, SUNY Albany, Westchester Community College, and other places.
