The 'Broward Correctional Institution' is a correctional facility located in the City of Pembroke Pines in Broward County, Florida. The facility was opened in 1977 to house a male inmate population. However, in its history the prison has had only female inmates. With a total capacity of 611, It housed female death row inmates until February 2003 when death row was moved to Lowell Correctional Institution. The 'Broward Correctional Institution' serves as a reception center for female inmates. As of 2006, a staff of approximately 250 individuals service the facility.
