CAITHNESS GENERAL HOSPITAL

'Caithness General Hospital' is an NHS Highland and Argyll hospital in Wick, Caithness, Highland, Scotland.
In 2003 a review of maternity services by NHS Highland and Argyll (then NHS Highland) raised the possibility that these services at Caithness General would be down-graded from obstetrician-led to midwife-led. This review provoked strong protests from local residents and councillors. In December 2005, however, perhaps as a result of local protests, it was announced that the review was to be disregarded and that new recommendations included the recruitment of three permanent obstetricians for the hospital, instead of ''locum'' consultants currently in position.
