CALIFORNIA'S 18TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT
The '18th District' is in the northern San Joaquin Valley of California, and includes the cities of Stockton, Modesto, Ceres, Atwater, Merced and Los Banos. It runs from San Joaquin County, south to Stanislaus, Merced, Madera and Fresno counties.
It was once represented by Gary Condit, whose previous district, the 15th, was moved in the redistricting after the 1990 Census. It is now represented by Dennis Cardoza. George W. Bush received 49.6% of the vote in this district and extremely narrowly won it by 383 votes in 2004; John Kerry received 49.3%.[1] The district has a Cook Partisan Voting Index score of D +3.
