CAM JANSSEN

'Cam Janssen' (born April 15, 1984 in St. Louis, Missouri) is a professional ice hockey player who currently plays right wing for the National Hockey League's New Jersey Devils. He was drafted by the New Jersey Devils in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. He was the chosen 117th overall in the 4th round. Janssen led the Devils during the 2005-2006 season with 11 major penalties for fighting. On February 24, 2007 Cam Janssen scored his first career goal against the Washington Capitals at 10:33 in the second period in his 82nd career game in the NHL. The Devils' fans gave Janssen a standing ovation.
He played his OHL career for the Windsor Spitfires before being traded to the Guelph Storm. He went to the Memorial Cup with the Guelph Storm in the 2003-04 season.
In the second period of a regular season game against the Toronto Maple Leafs on March 2, 2007, Janssen rendered Toronto Maple Leaf All-Star defenseman Tomas Kaberle unconscious with a bodycheck to the head in an apparent late hit. Kaberle was carried off the ice on a stretcher.^[1] As a result of the hit, the NHL announced Janssen would be suspended for a period of three games without pay, forfeiting a total of $7,220.16. He missed games versus Boston, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh and returned for the Devils' matchup with the Buffalo Sabres on March 10, 2007.^[2]
On March 30th Janssen received a sore shoulder after fighting Philadelphia's Riley Cote and missed 4 games. He later returned for the playoffs against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
