CAMDEN HAVEN HIGH SCHOOL
'Camden Haven High School' is the largest rural school in New South Wales, Australia. Consisting of over a thousand students, the school presents both distance educational and face-to-face education. The school is 2 km off the Pacific Highway turning East at the Kew traffic lights intersection.
Camden Haven High School (CHHS) opened in 2000. A united school culture has been developed by establishing across school management, curriculum and special programs working teams. This took place despite the challenge that, for most of 2000, the school operated from a face-to-face site at Kendall and a distance education centre at Port Macquarie. The move to the new school occurred for term four.
Face-to-face students are drawn from the local Camden Haven community and distance education students enrol from the Central Coast to Coffs Harbour and inland from the New England Highway, Armidale as well as Lord Howe and Norfolk Islands. The school also runs Distance Education (DE) courses for Face-to-Face students when the Face-to-Face class numbers are too low.
Over 200 teachers attend the school every day, including over 30 head teachers and 4 deputy teachers. Currently the principal is Mr. Greg Hyde. The previous principal was Mrs. Beverly Theobold.
