Campus

Campus Middle School consists of a single school building. It has four stories, and elevators and ramps to support disabled children. CMS has two gyms, an east and a west gym. Most grade-level classrooms are grouped by floor. It also has a large gifted and talented program, as well as accelerated classes to support the needs of children at all levels.
Campus Middle School is located next to Belleview Elementary School and the east building of Cherry Creek High School.
CMS school hours are from 8:25 a.m. to 3:35 p.m.

Schedule

The CMS school year has four quarters. It uses a traditional schedule, including a summer, winter, fall, spring, and Thanksgiving break.
The day has 8 class periods. There are four "core" periods, two "elective" periods, a lunch period, and "core support." The classes are explained below.

Classes

Core Classes

In every grade, each student is required to take four core classes. These are:

★ 'Social Studies': In sixth grade, students study the Western hemisphere. In seventh grade, students study the Eastern Hemisphere. In eighth grade, students study U.S. history and government.

★ 'Language Arts': Basic, Advanced, and Honors programs are offered for all grades.

★ 'Math': Math classes range from basic sixth grade math to Geometry(Honors). Some students also go to Cherry Creek High School to take Algebra 2/Trigonometry (honors) and higher.

★ 'Science': Science classes are within a similar subject range, but students learn more and go deeper into the individual subjects as they progress.
Electives

Each student has two elective periods. During each period, a student can choose between four quarter-long classes or a year long class.
Quarter long classes are typically technology, art, physical education, and health classes. In sixth grade, students can also take beginning foreign language classes. In the eighth grade, students can take half-year long guitar classes. Year-long classes are typically music instruction or foreign language courses. In music, there is a choir, band, and orchestra class. Foreign languages include Spanish and French.

Students

CMS served 1,300 students in 2004. 80.3% were Caucasian, 4.1% were Hispanic American, 12.3% were Asian American, 3.2% were African American, and 0.2% were Native American. About 5.2% of students were offered free or reduced meals.

Extracurriculars

Athletics at CMS include track, basketball, wrestling, and volleyball. CMS students compete against other middle schools in the Cherry Creek School District. A mustang is on every gym shirt.
Clubs and teams at CMS include an Optimist Brain Bowl team, a few Destination Imagination teams, a Diversity Task Force, a MathCounts team, a National Junior Honor Society, language clubs, art club, strategic game club, and technology clubs.
In addition to clubs, there is also teacher support outside of school hours through the Academic Support Center. CMS holds two school musicals each year, in the spring and fall. All clubs are supervised by a teacher.
