CANAAN VALLEY RESORT STATE PARK

'Canaan Valley Resort State Park' is a state park within Canaan Valley, Tucker County, West Virginia.
Unlike more traditional state parks, the park is actually a commercial ski resort, operated under contract with the state by Guest Services, Inc.. It receives no direct state subsidy and has virtually no state employees on site.
The park features a 250 room ski lodge, cabins, and camping. In an attempt to develop into a "four seasons" resort, it has developed hiking trails, bike trails, and a championship-level golf course.
The park was built in the early 1970s, in an attempt to develop a ski industry in the state. It has been very successful and several private ski operations have opened nearby and in other parts of the state as well.
