CANON-MCMILLAN SCHOOL DISTRICT
The 'Canon-McMillan School District' or 'Canon-Mac' is a public school district located in Washington County, Pennsylvania. The district encompasses the borough of Canonsburg, and the townships of North Strabane and Cecil. It includes one high school (grades 9-12), one middle school (grades 7-8), two intermediate schools (grades 5-6), and seven elementary schools (grades K-4).
Canon-Mac is the largest school district in Washington County, in terms of attendance, and is in division AAAA WPIAL for most of its athletic programs. The district's mascot is the "Big Mac". A “Big Mac” is most similar to another common mascot called a Highlander which is typically displayed as a soldier of a Scottish regiment. The school’s logo, which is depicted on this page as well, shows the “Big Mac”. Canon-McMillan’s colors are blue and gold.
Canon-McMillan was formed on September 15, 1954 in a merger between the Canonsburg, Cecil Township, and North Strabane Township schools.
