CAPE ROYDS
'Cape Royds' () is a dark rock cape forming the west extremity of Ross Island, facing on McMurdo Sound. Discovered by the ''Discovery'' expedition (1901-04) and named for Lieutenant Charles W.R. Royds, Royal Navy, who acted as meteorologist for the expedition. Royds rose to become an Admiral and was later Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, London. This cape was the site of the expedition camp of the British Antarctic Expedition, 1907-09.
