CAPITAL BREWERY

Founded on March 14, 1984, by Madison, Wisconsin entrepreneur Ed Janus, 'Capital Brewery' is a brewery located in Middleton, Wisconsin. They first began production in the spring of 1986, and now produce 17,000 barrels of beer annually. It currently produces 16 distinct beers, of which 8 are Annuals, 4 are Seasonals, and 4 are under limited release. Most of these beers are made using the strict Reinheitsgebot guidelines.
Their brews have won numerous individual awards at many competitions, including Great American Beer Festival, and The Great Taste of the Midwest. The brewery itself was awarded the distinction of Madison's Favorite Local/Regional Beer from 1998 to 2004 from the ''The Capital Times''/''Wisconsin State Journal'' Reader's Choice Awards.
Capital Brewery was named "America's #1 Rated Brewery" by the Beverage Testing Institute's World Beer Championships in 1998. Capital still claims this distinction, as the BTI did not award it after 1998.
Capital Brewery’s beers are currently distributed in six Midwestern States: Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, Ohio, and Missouri.
Capital Brewery has a large beergarden which holds host to a myriad of events throughout the year. One of the more popular of these is Bockfest, which is held on the last Saturday of every February. Bockfest celebrates and ushers in the annual release of Capital Blonde Doppelbock.
