CAPITAL HIGH SCHOOL (WASHINGTON)
'Capital High School' (CHS), commonly reffered to as 'Capital', is a public high school in Olympia, Washington, USA. It is one of two comprehensive high schools in the Olympia School District.

Capital High School is a member of the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association, in class 3A.
Capital has continued to have a particularly strong Cross Country tradition. Both the men's and women's teams have been contenders year after year for the state title. Notable Cross Country Alumni include Ben Koss, Jordan Swarthout, Anna Blue, Graydon Manning, Ariel Taylor, Stefanie Fischer, and Christopher McIsaac. This year, both men's and women's Cross Country took first place in League, greatly surpassing the success of the 2006 Capital football team.
The girl's swim team is another group who has maintained a strong athletic history. Every year since 2000 these girls have placed in the top five at the state competitions. In 2006, the team was undefeated and League Champions.
The baseball program has had a long history of success, with the high points being state championships in 1979 and 1998.
Both the women's fastpitch, and men's golf have also had strong success with a combined 12 state championships between them (6 each.) One notable alumni of Capital High School's golf program is professional golfer Andres Gonzalez.
The men's tennis squad is very good under the steady hands of Joe Monroe.
The Capital Cougar's soccer program is looking forward to a good year in their new league.
The CHS debate team is doing very well this year under the great guidance of Coach Jim Anderson. Many members of the debate team have received awards for their efforts at several debate tournaments this year.
Other strong sports include the CHS volleyball team and 2 time state winning Football program.
Capital High School was founded in 1976, to split the district into a two high school system, with approximately half of the elementary and middle schools feeding into Capital High School, and half feeding into William Winlock Miller High School.
The Class of 1984 gave CHS its fight song. The music comes from the University of Houston fight song.
