CARAVAN PARKS
(Redirected from Caravan park)
'Caravan parks' comprise several distinct categories of tourist, traveller, semi-permanent and permanent accommodation facilities.
Since the first caravan parks were established to allow travellers with caravans to park their car and caravan at a place they wished to stay, they have evolved to become a broad range of parks, catering to a broad range of accommodation needs.
Caravan parks began to appear in the 1920s as cars became more popular. Caravanning became particularly popular after World War II.
The generic term is used to describe a broad range of accommodation facilities, ranging from campgrounds which allow caravanners to park their car and caravan on a campsite, through to parks which offer sophisticated resort style tourist facilities and onsite accommodation, including luxurious cabin and villa accommodation.
Specific types of parks have developed to suit an increasing range of accommodation needs and demands. These include:
★ Parks which cater specifically for Recreational vehicles (RVs). These have appeared mainly in the USA.
★ Parks which allow permanent or semi-permanent occupation of sites, rather than catering for the short term accommodation needs of travellers and tourists.
Tourist parks provide accommodation for holiday makers and recreational visitors.
In the United Kingdom, these are often called caravan sites and many are operated via the Caravan Club, either owned by the Caravan Club, or privately operated as small friendly Certificated Locations.
Transit parks are generally located on or near major highways. They allow travellers to stay overnight while ''en route'' to their destination.
Residential parks are primarily occupied by persons who reside in the park either permanently or semi-permanently.Similar to Trailer park
