CARBONDALE, INDIANA
'Carbondale' is a small town in Liberty Township, Warren County, Indiana. Originally known as Clark's Cross Roads, then Free Hall, the discovery of coal in the town's vicinity led to the current name being applied in 1873.
Carbondale is located at 40°21'36" North, 87°20'51" West (40.360000, -87.347500), near the intersection of U.S. Route 41 and Indiana State Road 63. The scenic Big Pine Creek flows about a mile and a half east of town.
