Health
His blood type is O negative. He is allergic to just about everything, possibly including llamas, much to his disappointment. His scapula is very sensitive. He has a trick knee and an inhaler. Carl (& his parents) appear to be severe hypochondriacs.
Addictions, hobbies, and activities
Carl's adoration of llamas exceeds obsession. His room is llama-themed, all his games are llama-themed, and he mentions llamas in almost every episode. He dreams of becoming a famous llama breeder in South America. When his parents expanded their cable line-up, he found a channel devoted completely to llamas, which he liked, especially the show about a singing, flying, super-hero crossing guard named ''Llama Boy''. Carl even went as far as to join an international llama fan club, the Llama Love Society. Another member of the Llama Love Society is his girlfriend, Elke Elkberg, who in one episode claimed to be a Swedish tennis player/teen model. She was not, but she was indeed a llama lover, like Carl. The credibility of this dubious romance takes a grave blow when Carl's demonstrates an (at times creepy) affection for Jimmy's mother.
At least on one occasion, Carl indiscretely revealed his affection for Jimmy's mother. When Jimmy, Sheen, and Carl think they are about to die, Carl and Sheen think about whom they would most like to see. Sheen wants to see Libby's smiling face. Carl wants to see, "Jimmy's mom's smiling... [for this comment, he gets weird looks from Jimmy and Sheen] ...lemon cookies! The ones with the faces on them!" When they finally escape, Carl takes out a family portrait of the Neutron family from which he has cut out Hugh's (Jimmy's dad's) face and into which he has pasted his own. He first fell in love with Jimmy's mom after accidentally inhaling a love hormone that Jimmy had concentrated (in ''Love Potion 976/J''). Even though the hormone later wore off, he remained enamoured of her afterward. The same thing happened to Sheen with Libby Folfax, and Jimmy with Cindy Vortex.
Carl has many marginal talents. One such notable talent is his ability to blow snot bubbles using his inhaler.
Carl, ever eager to compete with Jimmy's inventive genius, claims to have "invented" the "Hot dog Holder Deluxe" (a hot dog bun.) It is thought that he did so in order to seem more like Jimmy; as shown in ''Nightmare in Retroville'', Carl is jealous of Jimmy and wishes he too were a genius.
Carl has other dubious talents and artifacts. He took ventriloquist lessons & can imitate virtually anyone. He carries air fresheners on his person at all times, enabling him to immediately produce several of them and offer a choice. He also carries around paste, a toothbrush, & a bag of Jimmy's hair that has three sides. (Seen in .)
Surprisingly but endearingly, Carl likes Ms. Fowl as evidenced in a dream by his familiar use of her first name 'Winifred.'(''Nightmare in Retroville''.) Another time in "Professer Calamitous" he says "Don't you think that in the right light Ms. Fowl looks--" He is then interrupted by Jimmy. For an explanation of this borderline romantic interest, the viewer is left to speculate.
Fears
Carl is known as nervous, timid, and suffering from hypochondria; at times, he tries to overcome these personality traits in order to appear "cooler" around Jimmy and mutual friend, Sheen Estevez. Carl is also afraid of testing Jimmy's new inventions, as shown in the episode "Crunch Time" when Carl is afraid of the door which has the cheese and the shocker.
Other
During the episode ''The Mighty Wheezers'', Carl and his family are temporarily given superhuman constitutions by Jimmy, leading to scenes that parody the film ''Spider-Man'', as Carl wakes and discovers his new abilities.
Carl's wardrobe is made up of green overall pants and pink-and-orange striped polo shirts. His parents are/were 42 (making their birth year c. 1961), and he sometimes dreams about girls, as revealed at the end of ''Grumpy Young Men''.
While on numerous adventures with Jimmy Neutron and Sheen Estevez, Carl often finds himself in dangerous situations and often needs the help of his friends to get him out. Despite all of these mishaps of his, Carl is always in the action, ready to help his friends no matter what the price.
It has been revealed in the episode ''Journey to the Center of Carl'' that Carl's brain was about the size of a walnut. Sheen even thought that Carl's brain was "a walnut on a stick".
In the episode ''Battle of the Band'', Carl speaks with a British accent, wears colored sunglasses, wears different multi-colored clothes and has an Asian wife, after becoming delusional with the instruments that Jimmy invented. This is a tongue in cheek reference to John Lennon's marriage with Yoko Ono (Made clear by the glasses and the bowl cut hairdo). In another episode where Jimmy and his friends visit the future, Carl is wearing Elton John-esque clothes again, in revolt of the dress code that Libby enforces as Queen.
In three episodes Carl has mentioned resorting to cannibalism, once while Jimmy, Sheen, himself, and Jimmy's dad where camping, another when they went searching for treasure under water, and a third when they where kidnapped by aliens while being small.
Carl's birthday is January 17.
