CASASWAP
(Redirected from Casaswap)
'CasaSwap' is a free international housing network where people (especially students and other young people, primarily between the ages of 18 and 30) can rent, sublet and swap accommodation all over the world. The organization tries to deal with the growing mobility problems facing students and young people going abroad to study or work, and it has been supported and co-funded by the European Commission in its ambition to improve transeuropean and international mobility, as stated in the Lisbon Strategy. Members also use the CasaSwap website to find housing opportunities when going on vacation.
The concept has been initiated, funded and managed by four Danish students who experienced problems finding accommodation when going abroad to study. The present CasaSwap site was launched in September 2005, and it continues to be managed by three of the original four founders.
People wishing to join the CasaSwap housing network choose between three different membership profiles:
★ 'Renter' (who is looking to rent accommodation from HomeOwners),
★ 'HomeOwner' (who wants to sublet accommodation to Renters),
★ 'Swapper' (who wants to exchange accommodation with other Swappers)
CasaSwap also has a 'Property Manager' profile, targeted at universities, real-estate companies, landlords and professional property management companies with several housing listings or a large property portfolio. These properties can all be registered and managed from within the CasaSwap website.
After joining, members can search the database and contact other members with offers they are interested in. Also, the website will automatically send match e-mails based on individuals’ preferences (e.g. location, price, period, etc.).
