(Redirected from Castillo de Guzman)
The 'Castillo Guzmán el Bueno' (
Spanish) for "The castle of Guzman the good"), also called 'Tarifa Castle', is a
castle in the coastal town of
Tarifa in
Spain. It is more than 800 years old. Recently refurbished, it is open to visitors. The coast and mountains of
Morocco are visible from its towers.
Alonso Pérez de Guzmán obtained the title "the good" by refusing to hand over the castle in 1296 to the besieging forces of the Infante, Don Juan, and the
Moors in exchange for the life of his son.
