Sports

While being outnumbered in student population, some of Century High School Athletics have been able to surpass such obstacles and make it to success. Century's Jagz Dance Team has made it to the Top 4 in state for the past 4 years.
Century's Track and Field team is lead by head coach Tony Rinck. He is also the head of the Cross Country team, which is hoping to compete for the league title this year. Both sports will be relying on runners such as Dan Sprinkle, Michael Deuker, (distance) Logan Kotsian (Sprinting)among others.

Nickerson would go on to pitch for the Oregon State Beavers during their 2006 College World Series championship run. In that 2002 season, the team was ranked #1 in OSAA coaches polls. In the upcoming season, The Jags hope to reach the playoffs again under coaches Kyle Bunting and Zach Ross.
Century High School basketball hopes to improve its players as early as girls and boys in 6th grade. Though they lost in the opening round to Jefferson High School, the team still did an amazing job.
Century softball has had similar success, reaching the playoffs in 2000 and 2004. In 2000, the team reached the quarterfinals, before being defeated by Clackamas, 4-0. In 2007, the team made it into the quarterfinals of playoffs but lost.

Century Stage, the school's drama department, has also been hard at work. In the 2006-2007 school year, Century Stage produced Disney's Beauty and the Beast, starring Jordan Parkyn as Beast, Melissa Fults as Belle, Kevin Voltz as Gaston, and Trevor Hennigan as Lafou, John Jeffry as Lumiere and Sarah Allen as Mrs. Potts.
The Spring Play was "A Piece of My Heart." The play had only 7 actors, including Melissa Fults, Alexis Chan, Sarah Busse, and John Jeffery. The play was about Vietnam War nurses before, during, and after the war. It was a very powerful play and brought tears to many in the audience.
Century is also special in the fact that it has a One-Act play festival every year in the Spring. The One Act Fesitval showcases short, usually 10-minute plays that are student directed and put on by students.
The drama department also swept Regionals and went to the State Showcase with their Group Musical performance of "Shoeless Joe", and won first in state for their group as well as an individual first award for Jordan Parkyn. They will be travelling to National competition in June.

Century students stay up to date with scores, events and other school news by watching a live morning news show called JagTV. Students create "news packages" and broadcast them over the TVs in the school. JagTV is supervised by Keith Allen, who also teaches the broadcasting journalism class, photography, film studies and is one-half of the FAME team along with Lynn Scheller. Students also take turns anchoring and running the cameras. Nico Matagora, Story Sylwester, Dylan Sylwester, Ian Monroe, Jan Pontillas, Mitch Fennimore, and Mandy Pham have all been featured as anchors for the morning JagTv. In 2007, several JagTV students took top honors in the Oregon State Publication Olympics. Stephen Townson, the Bortvedt brothers, Rachel Nelson, Ryan Murray and Ian Monroe were also winners this year.
Unknown to many students, Century has had a strong chess program. They have had a player place 10th in the nation, as well as taking first and second in state on previous occasions. Recently they have placed 5th, and are hoping to make a strong comeback to compete for the state title.
