'Century High School' is located in Rochester, Minnesota and is part of Independent School District #535.It is located at 2525 Viola Rd. NE Rochester, MN 55906. It is one of four High Schools in Rochester. Enrollment is approximately 1,800 students in grades 9-12.

History

Century is so named because the first graduating class received its diplomas at the turn of the century, in the year 2000.
Century High School was originally planned to be named "Eleanor Roosevelt High School," but this suggestion for a name sparked arguments. Eventually, it was renamed "Century High School" to avoid any political connotations. The school was completed and opened in 1997, allowing 9th and 10th Grade students to attend the school. In subsequent years 11th and 12th grade were added. Also in succeeding years, a cafeteria was created and eventually expanded. School colors are blue and silver.

Curricular and Extra Curricular Activities

The school mascot is a panther, so the sports teams, students, and staff are known as the Century Panthers. Century clubs includes speech, classic debate, mock trial, science Olympiad, math league, film club, ballroom dance club, chess club, model united nations, Spanish club, set construction, Four Square Club, Scrabble Club, Pit Orchestra and many other clubs and organizations. The Panther Playhouse puts on a drama in the fall and a musical in late winter. The Century marching band, also known as the Century Marching Panthers, led by Levi Lundak, play at football games, march in the homecoming parade, perform in their yearly indoor marching concerts, and make bi-yearly pilgrimages to Disney World for parade performances. Also, the Pep Band plays at hockey and basketball games in the winter.

★ Note: Both cross country skiing and rowing are organized through all-city teams (''All City Nordic Ski Team'' and ''Rochester Rowing Club''), so they include members from all surrounding high school such as Mayo, John Marshall and Lourdes.

★ , soccer, softball, baseball, basketball, golf, hockey, volleyball, and track and field. The Century varstiy hockey team took 3rd in the 2007 MSHSL Hockey tournament. The Century Hockey team plays at the Rochester Rec Center; while the football/ soccer team plays at the field on campus. The Century football team completed its first winning season in 2003 and in 2004 they were undefeated in the regular season, winning their first Big 9 Championship. The basketball team plays in a massive gym which includes 3 basketball courts. Century is most famous for the National Volleyball Center; which includes 8 volleyball courts with a mezzanine.
