CHEłM I GDAńSK-POłUDNIE

'Chełm i Gdańsk-Południe' is in the south-central suburbs of the city of Gdańsk, Poland. It was called Danzig-Stolzenberg by the Germans.
The Chelm-Gdansk Cemetery (54º22 18º36) is a 2.3 hectare Jewish cemetery, with graves dating from the 1860s. The cemetery was seriously damaged during the Holocaust and remains in dilapidated condition. The land has been reclaimed by the Jewish community, which has roots in the community going back to at least 1694. The 'International Jewish Cemetery Project' of the 'International Association of Jewish Genealogical Societies' is tracking its restoration. [1]
