CHENANGO FORKS, NEW YORK
'Chenango Forks' is a hamlet of about 500 people in Broome County, New York in the United States. The community is partly in the Town of Chenango and partly in the Town of Barker.
Chenango Forks is about nine miles north of Binghamton on Route 12 and is at the fork of the Chenango River and Tioughnioga River. Chenango Valley State Park is southwest of the village. Chenango Forks is a few miles from the border of Chenango County, New York. In recent years, it has been known for the prestigious athletics programs. The Chenango Forks varsity football teams has been in the last five consecutive state championships and has won two of the five and are on their way to a sixth consecutive section four title. Their lacrosse team, led by Dakotah Lake, a senior who has plans of going to Alfred University to play lacrosse after the 2007 season appeared in the state semifinal last 2 years, and is section 4 champions in the 2005 and 2006 season. Their men's swimming team appeared in states in 2004, and won the state title in 2005. The tennis team has appeared in states the last two years and has won one title in 2005. Their girls lacrosse team, after the graduation of Kim Carrey and Mandy Black hadn't won a game in three years, ending their losing streak in 2006 against Johnson City.
A popular hang out for residents of Chenango Forks is Davey's Last Chance Saloon. This famous local bar is located near the Chenango River and has provided a relaxing atmosphere where friends can meet up and have a beer for many years.
