CHICKERELL
'Chickerell' is a suburb of Weymouth in west Dorset, England. The parish has a population of 5,282 (2001).
The parish of Chickerell has to the west the Fleet lagoon, Moonfleet and Langton Herring. To the north-west is Portesham, to the east Weymouth, and to the south the Isle of Portland.
Chesil Beach runs along side to the west of the village which is part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site.
Historically fishing and brickmaking were the main industries in the area. The main employment area is now Granby Industrial Estate.
