CHINESE TAIPEI FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION


The 'Chinese Taipei Football Association' (Traditional Chinese: 中華民國足球協會) is the governing body of football in Taiwan. Its official name in Chinese is the Football Association of the Republic of China, but it is billed as the Chinese Taipei FA abroad and uses the English initials on its badge (see Chinese Taipei for sport name issue).

1924: Established.

1954: Entered FIFA as the China National Football Association.

1955: Formed and entered the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) with various other Asian countries.

1973: Changed its name to the Republic of China Football Association.

1974: Exited the AFC.

1975: Entered the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC).

1978: Suspended from the OFC due to name problems.

1981: With FIFA's agreement, changed its name to the Chinese Taipei Football Association.

1982: Re-entered the OFC.

1989: Re-entered the AFC.
