The 'Choctawhatchee River' is a river in the Southern United States. The Choctawhatchee originates in Barbour County, Alabama, and it flows southwest, collecting major tributary the Pea River near Geneva. It then flows south into Florida, terminating at Choctawhatchee Bay. Other tributaries include the Little Choctawhatchee River which starts in urban Dothan, Alabama, Claybank Creek and Tighteye Creek.
Researchers from Auburn University reported possible sightings in 2005 and 2006 of Ivory-billed woodpeckers along the Choctowatchee River.[1]
