![]() | Spyderco Dragonfly knife: Airweight Utility Definitely a good choice for your smaller every day carry (EDC) duties, the Spyderco Dragonfly is a svelte design. SUPER light at just 1.2 ounces, the Dragon is a forget-you-have-it-on knife. That's because Spyderco wisely dispensed with any attempt to add stainless steel liners to the Dragonfly (thank you!). This knife compares favorably against another favorite EDC, the excellent SOG Flash 1 assisted opener. The 2" VG10 (or AUS8) leaf shaped blade is flat ground and will provide superb cutting performance. Be advised that the Dragonfly is a small knife and may be too small for many cutting tasks... for package, letter opening and the like it excels. It arrives to you razor sharp as all new knives should. The blade deploys quickly, locks up adequately tight, the Zytel handle is comfortable, and the integral clip holds adequately. Improvements could include jimping on the thumb ramp and choil area, faster deployment (will speed with time I think), and a small metal clip (that would hold tighter), and cheaper price (it's overpriced for what it is). But in many ways the Dragonfly is an excellent, easy-to-carry small EDC blade. Likability scale: 8 out of 10 |
![]() | Spyderco Lava READ HERE FIRST. This vid is available in higher quality, click "Watch in high quality", which is right below the "Views" indicator. I had a hard time buying this one. Lack of money + expensive hobby = :-( Just like my Sharpmaker, once I actually bought & handled it, I never looked back. The Lava is people friendly, yet also a micro self defense knife. A bit of a weird combo, I know. But it works surprisingly well. Ergos are fantastic, little flat ground blade slices very well. On many/most all steel handled knives, the grip is a bit slippery, but the has a massive choil which works very well. How would any sub 2 inch folder be of use as a SD knife? Well, the Lava has two big things going for it. 1. Excellent grip. The handle practically attaches itself your hand. 2. Very well though out opening system. The way the handle and Spydie hole is situated makes the knife "pop" into different grips. Overall, a great knife. |

![]() | Spyderco Dragonfly I have several Spyderco's but my Dragonfly is my favorite, because if the smooth action, the choil, and the easily depressed lock bar. When it looks like I'm wrist flicking it, I am using my index finger to open the blade slightly to overcome the spring pressure, and then flick it open. |
![]() | I come and stand at every door - acapella harmony The poem by Nazim Hikmet was first adapted as a folk song by Pete Seeger. The Byrds later covered it. I listened to the Byrds version this morning, and decided to warm up my voice by singing some harmonies to the tune. I simply recorded three different vocal tracks without any practice - as a result, it has a handful of mistakes. But it came out pretty good in large part if I do say so myself. |
