Sources used in the table

Most of the figures are taken from the CIA Factbook CIA factbook . Please note that not all figures published in the CIA Factbook are properly sourced.
Some of the figures on European countries are derived from the Eurobarometer Poll 2005 Eurobarometer on Social Values, Science and technology 2005 - page 11 and are based upon those who state they believe in a God. It is assumed someone must believe in God to be a Christian. The Eurobarometer figures themselves obviously include all other religions and the estimates here reflect that.

Inclusion of statistics

When changing or adding statistics:
#'Unsourced changes will be removed.'
#A reliable source must be given for ''each change''
#Links to websites clearly promoting a specific religion are not reliable sources
#Many official sources are considered more reputable than others. It should be noted however that while traditional sources such as http://bbc.co.uk or https://cia.gov do occasionally state a proper source for their data, in many cases they do not. Unsourced data from the these works are accepted where no other sourced figures are available.
#If there is any doubt as the figures, a range of figures may be listed, as long as there are sources for both figures.

Other Estimates

The American Central Intelligence Agency Factbook
[47] estimates the percentage of people in the world to be Christians at 33.03% which would put the total number of Christians based upon the 2005 population above at 2,085,881,465. However it should be noted that there is no source for this figure. Note the disparity with the summation of the individual figures in the table even though a good proportion of those figure are also taken from the CIA Factbook ( some of which are also not properly sourced ).
