CHRISTOPHER

'Christopher' is an English name derived from the Ancient Greek name Χριστόφορος (Christóphοros). The name is frequently translated as “Christ-bearer”, although a more literal translation would be “Bearer of the anointed one”. In the Roman times people named Christoph or Christophoros were said to have the ability to see the future in their dreams. The constituent parts are χρίστος (chrístos) which means literally ''Anointed One'' and φέρω (phéro) meaning ''I carry''. The word ''Christos'' is generally understood to refer to the person of Jesus Christ, the Judeo-Christian Messiah in the Christian tradition. See the article on Christ for more information.
