WALTER P. CHRYSLER FREEWAY
(Redirected from Chrysler Freeway)
The '(Walter P.) Chrysler Freeway' is a section of I-75 between downtown Detroit and Pontiac, and is one of busiest segments of Interstate 75 and hosts one of the perennially busiest segments of freeways in Michigan. Since longer-haul traffic between Toledo, Ohio, USA and Flint, Michigan, USA generally bypasses this segment of freeway -- and the entire Detroit, Michigan metropolitan area -- by using US-23 between Toledo and Flint, Michigan, this portion of I-75 serves mainly as a commuter route and industrial connection within the Detroit metro region. The southernmost 1.2 miles of the Chrysler Freeway bears the Interstate 375 designation.
Construction began in 1963 and was complete by 1968.
