CHURCHMANSHIP

In Anglican parlance, 'churchmanship' is the general emphasis on doctrine, discipline, political outlook, and liturgical practice by adherents of the Church of England, particularly in certain historical periods.
Three standard schools or parties within the Church have been denoted by the terms Low Church, Broad Church, and High Church. To some extent, Low Church is co-terminous with Puritan or Evangelical, depending on the period in question. So too, the term Broad Church is generally co-terminous with Latitudinarian, while High Church has long been associated with Anglo-Catholicism through Tractarianism and the Oxford Movement, see also Puseyism.
Modern Anglican churchmanships include Charismatic, Traditional Evangelical, Open Evangelical, Conservative, Liberal, Liberal Catholic, Anglo-Catholic or Traditionalist, and proponents of the Book of Common Prayer.
