CITY TALK 105.9

'City Talk 105.9' is the name of a new commercial radio station which will soon launch in the Liverpool area of England on the frequency of 105.9 FM. The licence to broadcast was awarded by Ofcom on 9 November 2006. No launch date has been confirmed, however the station's owners have stated that they expect to launch by early 2008.
City Talk is a sister station to the EMAP-owned Radio City and Magic 1548 (who replaced City Talk in its initial form ''see below''), and will share their studios at the top of St. John's Beacon in Liverpool city centre.
Programmes which have been announced include:

★ ''Home from the House'', in which a local MP answers listeners' questions

★ ''Rag Mag'', a programme produced by students at Liverpool John Moores University

★ ''Worldwide Radio'', an hour from an English speaking station from wherever in the world the biggest story is that week.
Regular news, sport and business bulletins will be broadcast, as well as lifestyle, celebrity and comedy features.
City Talk previously existed on 1548 kHz between 1989 and 1991 initially between the hours of 0700 and 1900 on weekdays, which was unusual because when AM services separated from FM, they mostly turned into "oldies" music stations. Despite the format being appropriate for the AM frequency, it was not a success, and became Radio City Gold 1548.
