'City Telecom (H.K.) Limited' (CTI, ) is a fast growing and innovative provider of residential and corporate fixed telecommunications network and international telecommunications services in Hong Kong. Its wholly-owned subsidiary, HKBN, is a major fixed telecommunications network services operator, providing broadband Internet access, telephony, IP-TV and corporate data services with our self-built Metro Ethernet IP network.
CTI was listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in August 1997, with an American Depositary Receipt listing on the NASDAQ Stock Market in November 1999.
Since the launch of international direct dialing service in 1999, namely, IDD1666, CTI is renowned for its aggressive pricing strategy that has rapidly established its position of the second largest IDD operator in Hong Kong. Through the years, CTI has successfully maintained it market position in the IDD market, in which international telecommunications business was the core business of the company.
In 1999, the management of CTI looked into the possibility to explore new business opportunities, that HKBN was established to engage in fixed telecommunications network infrastructure for the provision of services. In a few years time, HKBN's network covers 1.3 million households in Hong Kong (65% of households), with a variety of service offerings including broadband Internet access (1000 Mbit/s, 100 Mbit/s, 25 Mbit/s & 10 Mbit/s), telephony, IP-TV, corporate and mobile data services. Fixed telecommunications network business is now the core business of the group, and HKBN is currently the largest alternative fixed telecommunications network service operator in Hong Kong.
