COLLYWESTON
'Collyweston' is a village of about 500 inhabitants in Northamptonshire, England. It is famous for its roofing slates, popular with houses all across England. These are thin slabs of limestone and not real slate.
The nearest town is Stamford about 4 miles (6 km) away, which is approximately 100 miles (160 km) up the A1 from London. The main road through Collyweston, imaginatively called Main Road, is the A43.
The main street in Collyweston is the High Street where many houses date back to Lancastrian times.
A sundial is all that remains of a great palace that once stood in Collyweston. It was that of Margaret Beaufort, mother of King Henry VII and grandmother of King Henry VIII.
