Competitiveness

This district consists mainly of the area of Colorado that is part of the Great Plains region of the United States. Mainly rural, the district is friendly territory for Republicans although Marilyn Musgrave was thrown for a scare in the 2006 election due to challenger Angie Paccione's strength in the more urban areas like Fort Collins. George W. Bush received 58% of the vote in this district in 2004. The district has a Cook Partisan Voting Index score of R +9.
