CONGREGATION FOR BISHOPS

The Congregation for Bishops has its origins in the "Congregation for the Erection of Churches and Consistorial Provisions" founded by Pope Sixtus V on January 22, 1588. Its current Prefect is Giovanni Battista Cardinal Re, and its secretary Archbishop Francesco Monterisi.
