History
Vreeswijk worked and travelled to Latin America in the late 1960s and early 1970s on many occasions and developed a great appreciation for its rich musical heritage. This appreciation led him to one of the most enigmatic figures in popular Latin American folk music: Victor Jara. This album was a tribute to the music of the Chilean folk singer Victor Jara who was murdered shortly after the September 11, 1973 Chilean coup. The songs were translated into swedish and the music is interpreted and delivered in the unmistakably unconventional and abrasive Vreeswijk style.
