COUNTESTHORPE
'Countesthorpe' is a large village and civil parish in the Leicestershire district of Blaby, with a population of 6,393 (2001 census). It lies to the south of Leicester, and is about six miles from the city centre, but only two miles south of the suburb of South Wigston. Nearby places are Blaby and South Wigston to the north, Kilby, to the east, Peatling Magna and Willoughby Waterleys to the south, and Cosby and Whetstone to the west.
Countesthorpe Community College is on the outskirts of the village. Members of Kasabian attended the college.
The village currently lies on two bus routes. The Arriva Number 85 that runs from South Wigston through to Leicester City Centre via Countesthorpe and is the only bus that goes to the city centre from the village. It passes through South Wigston, Countesthorpe, Blaby, Glen Parva and Aylestone before moving into the City Centre.
