CRESSWELL, STAFFORDSHIRE

The Izaak Walton pub

'Cresswell' is a village in Staffordshire, England. It is approximately one mile SE of Blythe Bridge and has a population of approximately 300.
The Izaak Walton public house and restaurant is named after the fisherman who lived in and around Draycott in the 1800s. Izaak Walton's book ''The Compleat Angler'' is still in publication today and gives an insight into the world of fly fishing, which supporters claim is very useful to this day. The building itself is placed over a renovated farmhouse where the farmer would supply drinks to fishers in the nearby river Blithe.
Cresswell is also the home of Blythe Cricket Club and St. Mary's Catholic Church. Twinned with St. Augustine's, St. Mary's provides regular services for churchgoers of the village.
