CURTISS A

'Curtiss A' (Curt Almsted) is a rock and roll singer and song writer from the Minneapolis-Saint Paul area of Minnesota. Most of his early recorded output was released on the Twin Tone label starting with the Spooks and their 6 Song EP in 1978.^[1]
The Punk-Glam band The Spooks were started by Curt and Replacements guitarist Slim Dunlap. Curtiss A's first full length recording was the 1980 Twin Tone release of Courtesy. The LP got five stars in a Rolling Stone review but failed to achieve any breakout success.^[2]
Through the years Curt has formed numerous bands including the Jerks of Fate and Mr. Midnight. He has also performed under various stage names, including the longest lasting Buzz Barker. He released ''A Scarlet Letter'' on Twin Tone records in 1988, the last of his recorded Twin Tone releases.
Since John Lennon's death in 1980, Curtiss A has been performing a tribute to Lennon in Minneapolis' First Avenue main room.
In his personal life he has three daughters, Jessie Almsted-Backstrom, Desdemona Almsted and Amanda Lambert.
