DéSENCHANTéE

'Désenchantée' was the lead single from French singer-songwriter Mylène Farmer's third album ''L'autre''. Released in February 1991, it spent a staggering ten weeks atop the French singles chart and sold 1.3 million units; it also spent eight weeks atop the Beligum chart and holds the record for most the most played song ever on French radio.
In 2002, dance-music singer Kate Ryan covered the song and experienced tremendous success with it across Europe.
The video for the single features a riot in what appears to be a concentration camp or gulag facility where people and children are subject to forced labor and being treated abysmally by armed guards. The riot scenes are quite realistically shot and contain much violent action. The anthem-like song goes well with the visual background. The single was the best selling single by a woman in France and was number one for 9 weeks.
