'Danbury' is a town in Merrimack County, New Hampshire, USA. The population was 1,071 at the 2000 census.

History
Incorporated in 1795 from a portion of Alexandria, New Hampshire, Danbury later grew by adding land from Wilmot and Hill. The name Danbury was suggested by a settler from Danbury, Connecticut.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 97.7 km² (37.7 mi²). 97.0 km² (37.5 mi²) of it is land and 0.7 km² (0.3 mi²) of it is water, comprising 0.74% of the town. The highest point in Danbury is ''Tinkham Hill'' (2,320 feet / 707 meters above sea level), in the northern part of town. Ragged Mountain (elevation of Danbury summit 2,225 ft. / 678 m.) is a prominent mountain with multiple summits which occupies the southern portion of town and has a ski area of the same name. Danbury lies fully within the Merrimack River watershed. Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there were 1,071 people, 435 households, and 310 families residing in the town. The population density was 11.0/km² (28.6/mi²). There were 596 housing units at an average density of 6.1/km² (15.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the town was 99.53% White, 0.19% African American, 0.09% Native American, and 0.19% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.47% of the population.
There were 435 households out of which 31.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.7% were married couples living together, 8.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.7% were non-families. 20.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.46 and the average family size was 2.84.
In the town the population was spread out with 23.0% under the age of 18, 6.8% from 18 to 24, 30.7% from 25 to 44, 26.7% from 45 to 64, and 12.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 41 years. For every 100 females there were 104.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 104.7 males.
The median income for a household in the town was $38,313, and the median income for a family was $40,809. Males had a median income of $32,105 versus $26,328 for females. The per capita income for the town was $18,339. About 8.9% of families and 11.1% of the population were below the poverty line, including 11.9% of those under age 18 and 9.3% of those age 65 or over.
