DANBURY RAILWAY MUSEUM

The 'Danbury Railway Museum' is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to operate a railway museum in Danbury, Connecticut, to educate the public on the history of railroading and the role of the railroads as a part of their local and national heritage.
The museum itself is located at 120 White Street in Danbury, Connecticut. It is comprised of a railroad yard full of restored and unrestored railroad equipment, and the restored 1903 station house containing exhibits of photographs and railroad paraphernalia, model train layouts, an extensive reference library, and a gift shop. Visitors can ride the "Rail Yard Local" on weekends in season. The ride takes about 25 minutes and includes a unique ride by the passengers on the museum's operating, eighty-plus year old, turntable. Some of the rolling stock in the yard, including its 2-6-0 steam locomotive, two cabooses, a Budd Car (self-propelled rail diesel car), and a Sperry track inspection car, are open to the visitors. The museum is an all-volunteer operation and welcomes anyone who would like to participate in any of the many facets of its operations - including operating its locomotives and self-propelled cars.
