DANIEL STEWART
General 'Daniel Stewart' (December 20, 1761 - May 27, 1829) was a brigadier general in the Georgia Militia. He joined the militia in 1776 and served during the American Revolutionary War and the War of 1812.[1]
Stewart was the great-grandfather of Theodore Roosevelt.[2]
He served as a state representative from 1785 to 1787, Liberty County, Georgia sheriff from 1795 to 1797, and state senator for three terms between 1802 and 1811.[3]
Fort Stewart and Stewart County, Georgia are named after Daniel Stewart.[4]
