INDIAN SLAVERY
The movie includes clips of Kevin Bales, the author or Disposable People. India is a source, destination, and transit country for men, women, and children trafficked for the purposes of forced labor and commercial sexual exploitation. India's trafficking in persons problem is estimated to be in the millions. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) estimates that 90 percent of India's sex trafficking is internal. Women and girls are trafficked internally for the purposes of commercial sexual exploitation and forced marriage. Children are subject to involuntary servitude as factory workers, domestic servants, beggars, and agriculture workers. Men, women, and children are held in debt bondage and face involuntary servitude working in brick kilns, rice mills, agriculture, and embroidery factories. India is also a destination for women and girls from Nepal and Bangladesh trafficked for the purpose of commercial sexual exploitation. Bangladeshi women reportedly are trafficked through India for sexual exploitation in Pakistan. Although Indians migrate willingly to the Gulf for work as domestic servants and low-skilled laborers, some later find themselves in situations of involuntary servitude, including extended working hours, non-payment of wages, restrictions on movement by withholding of passports or confinement to the workplace, and physical or sexual abuse. Bangladeshi and Nepali men and women are trafficked through India for involuntary servitude in the Middle East. - U.S. State Dept Trafficking in Persons Report, June, 2007

Bound By Promises: Contemporary Slavery in Rural Brazil
Every year, more than 25,000 workers are enslaved by landowners in rural Brazil, mostly in the Amazon region. This video tells the story of men who set out in search of work and are taken to isolated ranches, only to find that they have been lured into debt bondage. Forced to do backbreaking work and to live in overcrowded shacks with no running water, they are treated like animals. "A bullet from my shotgun is what you have a right to here", one worker was told. With no way out, they toil in the hope of buying back their freedom. Tennessee Ernie Ford - Sixteen Tons
SIXTEEN TONS (Merle Tavis) Huge 1955 hit by Tennessee Ernie Ford HISTORY OF "SIXTEEN TONS" (This article from Wikipedia) "Sixteen Tons" is a song about the misery of coal mining. Although generally credited as being written in 1947 by U.S. country singer Merle Travis, it has also been claimed that the Travis version was actually a rip-off of an earlier song called "Nine-to-ten tons", written by a singer called George S. Davis in the 1930s. A 1955 version recorded by 'Tennessee' Ernie Ford was on the b-side of his cover of the Moon Mullican standard, "YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE A BABY TO CRY". However, it was Ford's "SIXTEEN TONS" that reached number one in the Billboard charts, besting the performance of the competing version by Johnny Desmond. Another competing version by Frankie Laine was released only in the UK where it gave Ford's version some stiff competition on the charts. On October 17, it was released and, by October 28, it sold 400,000 copies. On November 10, a million copies had been sold. The record had sold two million copies by December 15. The well-known chorus runs: You load sixteen tons, and what do you get? Another day older and deeper in debt. Saint Peter, don't you call me, 'cause I can't go; I owe my soul to the company store... The line from the chorus "another day older and deeper in debt" was a phrase often used by Travis's father, a coal miner himself. This and the line "I owe my soul to the company store" is a reference to the truck system and to debt bondage. Under this system workers were not paid cash; rather they were paid with unexchangeable credit vouchers for goods at the company store (usually referred to as scrip). This made it impossible for workers to store up cash savings. Workers also usually lived in company-owned dormitories or apartment buildings, the rent for which was automatically deducted from their pay. In the U.S. the truck system and associated debt bondage persisted until the strikes of the newly-formed United Mine Workers and affiliated unions forced an end to such practices. The song has been covered by a wide variety of musicians. In 1955 it was recorded by Tennessee Ernie Ford and hit Billboard's Country Music charts in November and held the #1 position for ten weeks, then crossed over and held the #1 position on the pop music charts for eight weeks. Other examples include a rock version released by Eels on their live album "Sixteen Tons (10 Songs)" (2005), a country version released by Johnny Cash on his live album "The Best of Johnny Cash in Concert" (1995), a version with a rock edge by Tom Jones that became a hit in 1967, a blues-rock version recorded in 1972 by CCS, a slow, jazzy version released by Stan Ridgway on the album Anatomy (1999), a cumbia version by nuclear polka band Brave Combo, and a traditional roots country version released by Corb Lund on the album Modern Pain (1995). A folk-punk version was also performed by This Bike is a Pipe Bomb. Swedish doom metal band Memento Mori recorded a version of this song as a hidden track on their 1993 debut album Rhymes of Lunacy. The song can be found if the listener allows the CD to remain playing several minutes after the final listed song ends. Serbian hard rock band Riblja Čorba recorded a cover version called "16 noći" (Trans. "16 nights"), which appeared on their 1999 album Nojeva barka. The 1990 rendition of the song by Eric Burdon was used for the memorable opening to the comedy JOE VERSUS THE VOLCANO. The song is also sung in the undersea horror movie LEVANIATHAN. Presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich's rendition of the song on January 8, 2007 received fairly widespread media play on a variety of television stations and on the popular website YouTube. In Russia, Moscow's venue "Sixteen Tons" is named after the song by Merle Travis. "Sixteen Tons" track is a house song and can be heard before each concert held in the club. In Russia this song has been famous since the Soviet times, but in the Platters' version. The song was so influential, that in the USSR several cover versions were made in Russian. In one of the Russian versions the words in the chorus were about US plans to attack the USSR with 16 ton bombs: Sixteen tons, the heavy load Planes are flying to bomb the Soviet Union The planes are flying to the East To bomb a simple soviet village In 2005, General Electric ran a series of ads for its new "clean coal" campaign. With clear disregard for the message of "Sixteen tons," they used it to sell coal and the coal industry.
Instablogs Global Report 11-September-2008
http://www.instablogs.com/ Terrorism takes backseat to economy in US It would not be wholly correct to state that seven years after the September 11 attacks terrorism has taken a back seat. Since the attacks the federal government has made only limited progress toward preventing a catastrophic nuclear, biological or chemical attack on U.S. soil and combating the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction abroad. The perpetuation of terrorism since then and manhandling of entire issue by US and its allies has posed serious threat to international peace as evident from subsequent events like 7/7 brutal attacks in London and elsewhere. The coalition forces seemed to have veered from their real target which comprised the elimination of Al Qaeda and Taliban forces. Instead, they are now fighting the drug trade which helps the militias retain their power and a resurgent Taliban to fight which the Bush administration recently took the decision to enhance the US troop levels. Although there has been no terrorist attack on the United States since 9/11 the threat of a new major attack is still very real. Both terrorism and economic recession are major challenges confronting US Nepal to end bonded labor The government decided to abolish the Haliya system the other day. This is an important step towards establishing social justice through abolition of the remnants of feudal system. The system is analogous to bonded labor and is a glaring example of the ruthless feudal relations that survives on exploitation and expropriation of the returns of labor. Held in debt bondage for generations those belonging to the lower rungs, especially untouchables and subalterns, are compelled to till and tend the land without being compensated for the labor. Once liberated and emancipated they should not be forced to till the land which is not owned by them as this is illegal and punishable by law. However, the decision needs effective implementation to ensure substantive improvement in the social and economic life of the bonded laborers. The abolition of the Haliyas system should be complemented by alternative means of livelihood so that the Haliyas can lead an independent and dignified life otherwise they might relapse into subjugation. Bolivia civil war threatens Brazil The situation is very tense in Bolivia, more specifically in the department of Santa Cruz, the richest and which has the largest natural gas reserves in the country. There is risk of having a civil war. The conflicts started because of a decision by President Evo Morales want to use the funds obtained from the income of gas in a social program, reducing the financial resources of the Departments. These Five departments in Bolivia, the richest, want to become autonomous regions, opening the possibility for that Bolivia is divided into two countries. Between yesterday and today, thousands of demonstrators took the streets of Santa Cruz and federal buildings are being invaded. There are rumors that thousands of Indigenous are going towards Santa Cruz to combat the separatist protesters. Moreover, these demonstrators attacked the gas pipeline that delivers natural gas to Sao Paulo state in Brazil, trying to force the Brazilian government to enter the conflict. For while Brazil seems to be very concerned about the situation but will not intervene in this situation, because it is clear the intention of the protesters is to overthrow a president who was democratically elected. Indian physicist, victim of racism Of the three main past and present physicists behind the landmark proton-smashing experiment in Geneva, the third man is the Bose of the Higgs-boson experiment - Satyendra Nath Bose so brilliant and yet so overlooked. It is Bose after whom the sub-atomic particle 'boson' is named. The $10 billion Large Hadron Collider experiment in Switzerland could not have happened without Bose and Albert Einstein. In 1924, Bose sent a paper to Einstein describing a statistical model that laid the basis for describing one of the two categories of the elementary particles that make up an atom of which one was boson. Einstein had already won the Nobel in 1921,the British scientist Peter Higgs who eventually came up with his theory of the Higgs boson is now widely tipped to win the Nobel. It is Satyendra Nath Bose who for some reason never won the medal perhaps he became a victim to institutionalized racism. In such a case the international community and the Nobel academy should make amends through immediate recognition of his work.

peace, This interview with Dinara is from the Israeli program "Uvdah" Feb,2006. You can find the whole program here: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=2212906081716661355&q=israel+trafficking&hl=en God says that oppression is worse than murder, one of its ugly faces is Human Trafficking, the UN estimates there are more than 800,000 being trafficked every year, many of them are forced into prostitution and threatened with death should they attempt to escape the clutches of their captors. The real numbers maybe much higher than that, this international organized crime is hidden and most victims are too scared to come out. "Human trafficking is so hidden, you don't know who you're fighting — the victims are so scared, they're not going to tell you what's happening to them," said Zambian Given Kachepa, a former victim of a ring that exploited Zambian orphans touring the United States in a boys choir. Eventhough men are supposed to take care of women, mothers, sisters, wives, daughters (Quran[4:34]) some men have preffered to use and abuse them. --------------------------------- http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3060127,00.html (Israel) Y., from Moldava, says she was forced into sado-masochism. "Human trafficking is a multibillion-dollar business. In terms of profits, it's on a path to overtake drug and arms trafficking," Barry Tang Women are scared for good reason. Then the slave enters into "debt bondage." The slave's weekly living expenses are deducted from any small credits that may be applied through his or her labor, leaving the victim always in greater debt. Many times the traffickers or "coyotes" father children of the victims. The slave lord takes the babies from their mothers to be cared for by his own family, thus holding more control over the slave to work harder to earn the baby back. ---------------------------- ********************** Help is on its way, please check the quranic prophecy on: http://www.usn2161.net music by: wake up and live-Bob Marley Nothing else matters-Apocalyptica Forever-Stratovarius Get up, Stand up-Bob Marley **************** Dinara's interview was taken from an Israeli program "Uvdah" Feb,2006, you can find it here: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=2212906081716661355&q=israel+trafficking&hl=en ------------- ------------- Tags: Truth , True , Real , Only, Religion, Submission, Abraham , Abrahamic , Religious , Judaism , Jewish , Christianity , Christians , Islam , Muslims , Atheism , Atheists
