The '''Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit''' (German Technical Cooperation) or 'GTZ' is a private international enterprise founded by Erhard Eppler and owned by the German Federal Government, specializing in technical cooperation for sustainable development with worldwide operation.
GTZ mainly works on behalf of German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Further clients are other departments of the government, internationals donors like the European Union, World Bank or UN, partner countries and finally the private sector. The cooperation with private companies is an emerging field in the business of sustainable development. The GTZ is set up with International Services (IS) and the Public Private Partnership (PPP)[1] in this area.
As of 2006, GMZ's turnover was almost 900 million euro, and they had about 10,000 employees working in 126 countries, including about 1,000 at their head office in Eschborn near Frankfurt am Main.
