DIMAS TEIXEIRA

'Dimas Manuel Marques Teixeira' (born 16 February 1969 in Johannesburg, South Africa), known simply as 'Dimas' (pron. ), is a former footballer (a defender) and international for Portugal.
Dimas debuted in the Portuguese first division aged 18, in 1987 with Académica de Coimbra O.A.F., where he stayed for two seasons, staying with the team after they were relegated to the second division. He then joined Estrela da Amadora where he returned to top-flight football, later earning a move to Vitória Guimarães. Two seasons there were more than enough to earn him a transfer to SL Benfica in 1994-95, and a further step ahead in his career was given after he transferred to Juventus during the 1996-97 Winter transfer opening. After a season where he only played in 21 matches, and playing only once in 1998-99 season, he moved mid-season to Fenerbahçe, but was transferred again one year later, this time to Standard Liège.
The good run at the Euro 2000 proved he could still be of value for a title contending team, and he signed for Sporting Clube de Portugal. Finishing third, in the next season he moved again to Olympique de Marseille, after losing the spot in the first team to Rui Jorge.
He was capped 44 times (playing four times in both Euro 1996 and Euro 2000) before retiring at the end of the 2001-02 season, with two ''scudetti'' and one Portuguese league and cup in his curriculum. Played over 200 matches at the Portuguese first division, scoring 11 goals, 39 in the Serie A (no goals), 24 in the Turkish Premier Super League (4 goals), 13 in the Jupiler League and 5 in the Ligue 1.
