DON'T MATTER

"'Don't Matter'" is an R&B song recorded by Akon for his second studio album ''Konvicted'' (2006). The song was released as the album's third single in early 2007. In April 2007, it became Akon's first Canadian number-one single and his second U.S. number-one single.

"Don't Matter" was released in the U.S. in mid-January 2007. The song made its debut at number seventy-nine on the Hot 100 and reached number-one ten weeks later because of its substantial airplay. Due to this, it stayed at number-one on the Hot 100 Airplay for two weeks. In the UK, it debuted on the singles chart at number forty-five (based solely on downloads), peaking at number three after its CD single release. After the song's debut inside the top ten on the singles chart in Canada, it reached number-one there for three weeks. During the verses, some of the parts sound similar to the chorus in R. Kelly's Ignition.
As of September 1, it stayed in United World Chart for 28 weeks.

Music video

The music video starts with Akon picking up his date at a location. As he leaves with his date, an old man is shown reading a magazine and stares at them with an angry look. The video continues with Akon singing "Don't Matter" while doing all sorts of things with his date.
