The song, is an adult contemporary soft-pop song. It was the first solo number-one single for Estefan, her last number-one single "Anything for You" was performed with Miami Sound Machine on their 1987 ''Let It Loose'' album.

Song nominations


The song earned a nomination to the Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, but lost against Bonnie Raitt's "Nick of Time". It also received a nomination to an American Music Award for Favorite Pop/Rock Single but again, lost, but this time against Milli Vanilli's eventually bogus "Girl I'm Gonna Miss You".

International versions


Estefan also recorded "Si voy a perderte"; which is the Spanish version of this song. "Si voy a perderte" hit number one on Billboard's Hot Latin Tracks chart. "Se Tenho que perder" is the Portuguese version of this song, and was released as a single in Brazil.
