A 'drawer' is a piece of furniture that is most often shaped as a short, wide topless box and is used for storage. It is generally stored within another, larger piece of furniture, and may be pulled out from it partway to access its contents, for example a Chest of Drawers. Many drawers have pulls, handles, or knobs to facilitate pulling them out from that which encloses them.
Most older or inexpensive furniture and cabinets use wooden sliders, upon which the drawer slides as it is opened or closed. Should this type of drawer become stiff to open or close, the sliders can be very effectively lubricated by rubbing a candle on the binding surfaces. Newer furniture and cabinets will tend to use plastic sliders, or even bearings, which will provide far smoother operation with far less binding, assuming the mechanism is in good alignment and condition.
