Played by Jim Siedow, 'Drayton Sawyer' is the eldest brother of the Sawyer clan which consisted of Leatherface, Chop Top and Edward Sawyer in the first two The Texas Chainsaw Massacre films. Drayton was originally a gas station owner, but the intense police investigation following Sally Hardesty's escape forced him to abandon that job. After he and his family moved to an abandoned amusement park near Dallas, he expanded his culinary skills and eventually became an award-winning chili and barbecue cook. Unbeknownst to his customers, however, the meats he sells are made of the people his brother Leatherface kills, skins, and cuts up. In order to keep this truth from being known, he dismisses the teeth and bone fragments occasionally found in his meat as hard-shelled peppercorns.
Drayton adopts a folksy persona while in public but in reality is a severely unstable person who berates his brothers non-stop, rants at great length about money and the plight of the small businessman, and occasionally brings people "home for dinner". However, he has said he takes no pleasure in killing (though he seems to enjoy beating people), which is why he leaves that duty to his demented siblings. He also gets mad when Leatherface ruins the door.
By the second film, Drayton's sanity had detoriated severely. Whereas once he could be considered the most "normal" of the family and was slightly troubled by the murders his brothers committed, switching between telling them to get it over with quickly and cheering them on, in the second film he fully supported them and was a full-bore lunatic.

Appearances in comics
Drayton, though only called "Cook Slaughter", appears as a major character in the out of continuity comic miniseries ''Jason vs. Leatherface''; at first hesitant towards Jason Voorhees, who Leatherface and Edward ("Hitchiker Slaughter") bring home, Drayton soon warms up to him after seeing how well he gets along with Leatherface. Afterwards, Drayton develops his own friendship with Jason, even confiding in him and revealing several of his secrets to him, such as his dream to run a fancy restaurant. After Edward apparently kills Jason with a hammer during a fight between him and Leatherface, Drayton, feeling remorseful and sorry for Jason, decides not to cook him, and, despite Edward's complaining about it, instead decides to give him a proper send off, dumping him in a nearby lake. The comic reveals that Drayton may actually be the uncle of Leatherface and Edward, who are hinted at being the incest-bred children of his beloved sister Velma.
The one-shot comic ''The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: Cut!'', despite taking place in the remake continuity of ''The Texas Chainsaw Massacre'' series, features a character similar to Drayton.
